Conceptual Capture

Saenredam's 1604 engraving of Plato's cave, with figures confined among shadows and an illuminated exit beyond.
Plato's Cave — Jan Pietersz Saenredam after Cornelis Cornelisz van Haarlem, 1604
Mechanism statement
Conceptual capture occurs when naming, categorizing, measuring, or explaining stops serving relation and begins enclosing the living field inside fixed terms.

Geomytha Reading

Geomytha distinguishes useful differentiation from over-definition. The distortion begins when the concept is treated as more authoritative than what it describes.

Geomytha function

It identifies a subtle form of claim in which thought gains apparent mastery by converting the fluid or nameless into manageable conceptual objects.

Structural movement

Am → I → This: reflection is named, claimed, and stabilized as a fixed concept or identity.

Claim boundaries

The mechanism does not mean language, naming, analysis, or categorization are inherently alienating.

Misuse warning

Do not use conceptual capture as an excuse to reject precision, evidence, distinctions, or careful language.

Applied field

Only explicit links already recorded by the publication engine are shown here. Conceptual resemblance alone does not create an application link.
