Counterfeit Kingship

Byzantine gold signet ring from The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Mechanism statement
Counterfeit kingship appears when a role, ruler, institution, or self treats the throne, office, authority, or form it occupies as the source of legitimacy rather than as a vessel answerable to something prior.

Geomytha Reading

Geomytha uses kingship symbolically for the difference between mediated authority and self-authorizing possession.

Geomytha function

It generalizes the false-center problem into sovereignty: the servant claims to be the source it was meant to serve.

Structural movement

I claims This and then expands authority through These / All This; the corrective is de-centering and restored relation to source.

Claim boundaries

The mechanism is not a judgment about any specific present-day ruler, government, or political system unless separately evidenced.

Misuse warning

Do not use the term as a catch-all insult for authority or hierarchy. The defining issue is sovereignty claiming to be self-grounding.
